Helix Pcd Test
BEYA MEDICAL Helix pcd test present us, Sterilization Assusrance at higher level, daily test for pre-vacuum hospital sterilization and for benchtop steam sterilizers for steam penetration and inert gases.
The Helix Test measures the strength of steam penetration into the chamber. This is an essential test because, in dental practices, there are instruments with fairly long cavities that, if not properly sterilized, can harbour bacteria and viruses that may infect patients and operators.
How often should helix test be done in autoclave ?
Different tests need to be carried out to ensure the autoclave is in good working order, otherwise, there’s a risk of breakdown, which would impact patient care or worse still, equipment not being properly sterilised before use. A Helix test should be performed daily.
What is the difference between a Bowie Dick and Helix test ?
The Bowie & Dick Helix Test Set is dedicated for hollow loads in a bench top sterilizer class B. Compared to the BD Test Pack (porous loads) the Bowie & Dick Helix Test simulates a hollow instrument and generates a bigger challenge for the steam sterilizer and the steam sterilization process.
How Helix Pcd Test to use ?
The test should be performed in a preheated chamber at the start of the day with only the Helix device present.
1) Pre-heat the autoclave, up to working temperature.
Note: Performing the Helix test on a cold autoclave can lead to incorrect results
2) Open the Helix Device, then take one strip from the book of 250, fold in half (test squares to the outside and adhesive backing to the inside) and insert the test strip into the slot in the device.
3) Close the Helix Device and place the Helix Device in the front of autoclave near the door.
4) Close the autoclave and process a sterilisation cycle.
5) The Helix Strip will change from a Pink to BLACK. If the whole strip is BLACK you have a successful test.
6) Date the Strip, remove adhesive backing and stick into your Book.
